Somewhere down deep, we all have a fantasy dream. It might have been a long time ago. Maybe it’s a fantastic lifestyle with vacation homes or hot cars. Maybe it is making a difference for your church or community. Maybe it is something else. Over the years your optimism about making the dream come true has faded and now you just don’t have the belief that it can happen. And you think about it less and less. Those immediate issues keep pushing it back. Slowly it seems less real and possible and finally you move it to the back of your mind where it won’t make you uncomfortable.
So you want to change your life? You want to be a success? You want to be recognized as a leader? Now is the time to bring your dream out of the shadows. Dust it off and remember how good it made your feel. Get a picture and put it where you can see it and think about it daily. You need all the help you can get if you want to change your life and do things that you never thought you could do.
OK you ask. What does this dream have to do with becoming the person I want to be? I have enough problems already and you want me to drag a dream along on the trip. This only adds another layer of frustration. The answer is simple. To change yourself into the person that can accomplish great things takes work and commitment. To keep you motivated and plugging away thorough all the ups and downs, it takes a bigger than life dream. Your dream is a destination to aim for as you plod through the everyday minefields of life.
You may feel that you have chosen an impossible road. You may think that you have too many deficiencies to repair before you can achieve success. You are wrong. You can do it. The hardest part is getting started because in the beginning it is hard to believe in yourself and your ability to grow. That’s where your big dream comes in. It has to be big enough to get you started when you truly don’t think it is possible. Then after you have started, the dream keeps you moving forward.
So find that goal. Dig it out of the place you hid it and put it where you can see it every day. Then get started.
