Today is July 4, Independence Day in the United States. On this day, the country’s founders declared their independence from foreign rule. They claimed their control over their lives and destinies. When will you declare your independence? When will you commit to putting your efforts into your freedom from being a slave to a job? When will you decide where and how you live, how much money you need and what kind of legacy you will leave?
This was a hard decision for the founding fathers to make. It meant hardship and war in the short run. It meant that life would not be so comfortable for a time. But without that decision, the future that they desired was impossible. Each of us has the same decision to make about our future with the same short run period of hard work in order to produce the life we want.
Take a moment today and think about your life. Are you living the life that you want or are you settling for the life that somebody else defined for you? It doesn’t have to be this way. There are resources and tools to help you change your life here at Job Optional. Make a decision and start your journey. Set a goal! Read a book. Make a plan. Even if it is a baby step, take action today.
Make July 4, 2010 your Independence Day.
